Executive TL;DR

  • Intel’s Q3 2026 revenue reached $16.5B (up 21%), and non-GAAP EPS of $0.52 topped Intel’s own $0.38 guide for the eighth straight quarter of beats.

  • Data Center and AI (DCAI) revenue hit $7.3B (up 78%) at a 42% operating margin, and management expects demand to exceed supply through 2027 and into 2028.

  • Q4 guidance of $15.0B to $16.0B and a 38% non-GAAP gross margin landed about 9% below the Street on revenue, and shares fell roughly 29% the next session.

  • Three forces drive the reset: a client inventory correction, the October Fab 28 accident in Israel (about $300M of revenue in each of Q4 and Q1), and fixed-cost under-absorption.

  • 2027 is an investment year with capex “up strongly” from $20B and negative free cash flow, while external foundry revenue stands at only $411M a quarter.

  • Liquidity is solid at $54.0B of cash and short-term investments against $50.1B of debt after a $23B equity raise.

Intel (INTC) delivered its strongest data center growth in 15 years and yet lost about 29% of its share value one session later.

The stock had more than tripled in 2026 before that release, so expectations ran far ahead of the fourth-quarter guide. A 38% gross margin against 44.1% a quarter earlier reset the earnings base almost overnight.

This deep-dive fundamental analysis report works through the segment economics, guidance bridge, balance sheet, the foundry proof points still missing, a scenario model for 2027 earnings power & more.

Let’s get started.

Intel Corporation (INTC) Company Overview

Intel at a Glance

Intel designs x86 processors, manufactures chips in its own fabs, and sells manufacturing and packaging services to outside customers. The company reports through Intel Products (split into CCPG and DCAI), Intel Foundry, and an “All Other” bucket that holds Mobileye, IMS, and startup businesses.

Altera left the consolidated results after Intel sold 51% of its stock on September 12, 2025. That deconsolidation depresses year-over-year comparisons in “All Other,” which fell 30% in Q3.

COMPANY SNAPSHOT
Ticker ................. INTC (Nasdaq)
Headquarters ........... Santa Clara, California
CEO / CFO .............. Lip-Bu Tan / David Zinsner
FY2025 revenue ......... $52.9B (flat YoY)
9M 2026 revenue ........ about $46.2B
Employees (Sep 2026) ... 81.1K total (88.4K a year earlier, down 8%)
Cash + ST investments .. $54.0B
Debt (short + long) .... $50.1B
Shares outstanding ..... 5,310M (4,994M at Dec 2025)

CCPG was called the Client Computing Group until Q1 2026. The rename reflects the push into edge and physical AI alongside PCs.

Segment Structure and Revenue Mix

Intel Foundry books most of its revenue from Intel Products, so the intersegment line removes $6.3B to reach consolidated revenue. External foundry revenue was just $411 million in Q3, about 6% of Foundry’s segment revenue.

DCAI now supplies 47% of Intel Products revenue, up from 33% a year ago. That mix shift explains most of the margin expansion in Q3.

Q3 2026 REVENUE BY UNIT
CCPG .................. $8.1B (-5% YoY)
DCAI .................. $7.3B (+78% YoY)
Total Intel Products .. $15.4B (+22% YoY)
Intel Foundry ......... $6.7B (+58% YoY)
All Other ............. $0.7B (-30% YoY)
Eliminations .......... -$6.3B
Consolidated .......... $16.5B (+21% YoY)

Ownership and Capital Structure

The U.S. government holds 433.3 million shares received in exchange for $8.9B of CHIPS Act funding. Of the government’s escrowed shares, 132 million had not yet been released at quarter-end.

The Department of Commerce also holds warrants for 241 million shares at $20.00 that become exercisable only if Intel stops owning at least 51% of its foundry business. That clause constrains any future foundry spin or outside-capital structure.

SoftBank invested $2.0B and NVIDIA invested $5B in 2025. The August 2026 equity offering added roughly $22.6B of net proceeds and was the largest contributor to a 6.3% rise in shares outstanding since year-end 2025.

OWNERSHIP AND FUNDING EVENTS
Aug 2025: U.S. government deal (433.3M shares, $8.9B funding)
Sep 2025: SoftBank $2.0B and NVIDIA $5B share purchases
Sep 2025: Altera 51% sale (deconsolidated Sep 12, 2025)
Aug 2026: ~$23B common stock offering (priced at $95 per share)
Escrowed shares unreleased: 132M
DOC warrants: 241M shares at $20.00 (51% foundry-ownership trigger)

Non-GAAP net income attributable to Intel was $2.8B, up 169%. Non-GAAP R&D and MG&A rose only 3% to $4.1B, which produced real operating leverage.

The revenue beat versus guidance was moderate, since Intel landed in the upper half of its $15.8B to $16.8B range. The gross margin beat of roughly two points and the EPS beat of 37% over the guide did the heavy lifting.

Consensus revenue sat near $16.5B, so the
