Executive TL;DR

  • CrowdStrike (CRWD) just delivered a record fiscal Q2 2027 quarter: revenue of $1.47 billion (up 26% year over year), ending ARR of $5.84 billion (up 25%), and record net new ARR of $333 million (up 51%), with full-year guidance raised again across every major line.

  • The Falcon Flex subscription program has crossed $2.29 billion in ending ARR, roughly doubling in a year, and is reshaping how customers buy and expand on the platform.

  • GAAP profitability remains thin because of heavy stock-based compensation and acquisition costs, but non-GAAP operating margin reached 25% and free cash flow margin hit 26% of revenue in the quarter.

  • The stock still carries one of the richest valuation multiples in software, which is the central tension every investor has to confront.

Introduction

Two years ago, a single faulty content update from CrowdStrike (CRWD) crashed roughly 8.5 million Windows machines and triggered what many called the largest IT outage in history.

Plenty of observers predicted lasting damage: lawsuits, customer defections, a permanently impaired brand. What actually happened next is one of the more instructive business stories in modern software.

CrowdStrike ended fiscal 2026 (January 31, 2026) with $5.25 billion in ARR and a record $1.01 billion in net new ARR, then accelerated again, posting its fastest net new ARR growth in years in the first half of fiscal 2027.

The company today is a different beast from the endpoint vendor that went public in 2019.

It now sells 33 cloud modules, runs an AI security layer called Falcon AIDR that nearly tripled its ARR sequentially, and is positioning itself as the security control plane for the agentic AI era.

This deep-dive report analyzes the numbers, business model, competitive outlook, valuation math, the bull, base, and bear cases & more, so you can make the right move.

Let’s begin.
